Standards and Corrections

Version 2026-10-26 (draft).

How we report

• Every number in a newsroom story is checked at two sources, and the main ones are linked.
• We report rumors only when another outlet has published them. We name the outlet and link to it, and we say how solid the report looks.
• Opinion pieces and rants are labelled Opinion. Hypotheticals are labelled What If.
• We do not give betting advice, and we do not take money from betting companies to write stories.
• Sponsored content, if we ever run any, is labelled Sponsored and kept apart from the newsroom.

How we use AI

Stories by The Desk are written with AI. One publishes only after it passes our automatic checks: every number is confirmed at two sources, the sources are linked, and the photo is free to use and credited. Every one of those stories says "Written with AI by The Subplot Desk" under the byline. Our editors read published stories and correct or remove them, with a note when a correction changes the facts. Our videos use an AI voice reading our own scripts, and the video descriptions say so. Fan posts written with AI must say so too.

Photos

We use photos we have the rights to: our own, Creative Commons photos credited with their licence, licensed photos, or handouts used with permission. We never use a generated picture of a real athlete or a real game.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and add a note at the end of the story saying what changed and when. We do not quietly change facts. To report an error, email corrections@subplotsports.com with the story link.

Independence

The Subplot is independent and is not affiliated with any team, league or player. Writers disclose any connection to a team or player they cover.
