The Subplot is for fans who like the story behind the score. Argue hard about teams; be decent to people.

Post

• your own words and your own takes
• sources for your numbers, with links
• photos you took, Creative Commons photos with a link, or licensed photos, always credited
• rumors only when another outlet has reported them, named and linked

Do not post

• attacks on people for who they are: race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or nationality
• threats, harassment, or piling on another user, a player or a writer
• anyone's private information, such as an address or phone number
• sexual content, gore, or anything involving minors that is not ordinary sports news
• copied articles or photos you do not have the rights to
• spam, ads, affiliate links, or anything for sale
• betting picks, betting advice or betting links
• made-up quotes, fake scoops, or posts pretending to be a team, league, player or reporter
• AI-written posts presented as your own work. If you used AI, say so.

What happens

Fan posts and quick takes are read by an editor before they go live. Breaking these rules can mean a post is declined or removed, and repeated or serious breaks can close an account. To appeal, email editor@subplotsports.com.
